How a Mobility Scooter changed my life

In 2015, Tom McCormick was unable to walk after contracting the Swine Flu virus. Tom was in intensive care for 5 weeks and in a coma for over a fortnight. As a result of the virus, Tom had to learn how to walk again and found he had lost his independence overnight.

A friend suggested a mobility scooter to help him regain his independence and Tom hasn’t looked back since. Tom tried a range of scooters with our mobility specialist, Jim Kane and eventually choose the Comet 8mph Mobility Scooter by Invacare due to its comfort, speed and reliability.

Tom uses his scooter every day, to take his Yorkshire terrier out for a walk or to nip to the shops. He has ongoing hospital appointments due to the virus and uses the scooter to travel to the hospital on a regular basis.

Describing the effects the scooter has made to his life, Tom commented: “To put it simply, the Scooter is my lifeline. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to pop to the shops, go to the park with my dog or see my friends and family. It gets me out of the house on a daily basis and I am as independent as I was before I contracted the virus. I don’t leave the house without the scooter now.”

“The team at Sync Living are always there when I need them. Jim and Kyle are brilliant and really look after me. If I have a problem with the scooter, I know Kyle will have the scooter fixed and returned to me in no time.”
